Lincoln County was due a win.

The Falcons have shown improvement this season in their previous games with two four quarter leads they couldn’t hold on to. 

This time, Lincoln County built a lead and held on to pick up their first win of the season, 35-27, over the visiting Spring Hill Raiders. The game was considered a huge win because it evened Lincoln County’s region record at 1-1. If the Falcons can pick up another region win they would all but guarantee themselves a post season berth.

The Falcons started the scoring against Spring Hill by leaning on their offensive line. Hunter Hammons took the ball in from two yards out for the early score. Hammons had his third straight 100-yard rushing game with 188 yards on the ground to lead the Falcons. Lincoln County continued their offensive success and took a 28-13 lead into the half.

In the second half, the Raiders loaded the box to stop the Falcons’ rushing game. Spring Hill closed the gap to 35-27 and had a last chance at tying the game. The Falcons were not going to let that happen and slammed the door on the Raiders comeback by forcing a turnover on downs.

Spring Hill had 366 yards of offense to the Falcons 318 yards. Lincoln County had three interceptions which were key to the win. Hammons led the rushing attack with 188 yards followed by TD Tucker with 28. Tucker also had 87 yards passing from his quarterback position. Trashawn Jean led the receivers with two catches for 40 yards.

Defensively, the Falcons were led by Logan Carter with six tackles and two interceptions, followed by Nick Rodgers with four and a half tackles, Aron Jones with four tackles, Wilke Pack with four, Bryant Maddox with four, Hank Sorrels with three and a half, and Hunter Hammons with three and a half.

The Falcons will leave the “The Pit” to go on the road this week against always tough Lebanon for an out-of-region game.
